You have holes in your beard from one day to the next and you wonder where they come from? And more importantly, you wonder what you can do about it?

It is good to know that hair grows from the hair follicle. Yes, you've probably already heard about this if you're interested in beard growth.
Hair growth is divided into three stages:

  1. "Anagen: when the hair comes out of the skin,
  2. "Catagen represents the period when hair grows and ages,
  3. "Telogen covers the moment when the hair dies and is replaced.

Why am I telling you this? Because you will see that everything is related!

Where do the holes in the beard come from?

If you have holes in your beard, it doesn't mean that you don't have a hair follicle in that area. It is simply possible that the follicle is not producing hair because it is not "active". That's why the beard market is flooded with "hair follicle activators" like Minoxidil, the Alopexy or the Kirkland.

The number of hair follicles also depends on genetics. Basically, don't hesitate to ask the men in your family (father, grandfather, uncles...) to find out a little more about the family's genetic makeup.

Of course, this is only one parameter among many: we don't all have the same growth cycles. In fact, hair growth also depends on your age and the level of testosterone in your body.

How to fix my patchy beard ?

Just like growing a beard, there are different good ways to improve the health of your beard and avoid holes.

A healthy life and a balanced diet

The first way tomaintain your facial hair and avoid holes is to have a healthy lifestyle and a correct care routine:

  • Adopt a balanced diet,
  • Drink enough water (1.5 liters per day),
  • Get enough sleep
  • Exercise

All these "good practices" will help you have a healthy beard and therefore, in the long run, a fuller beard.

A good diet provides the beard with vitamins, minerals and proteins. Exercise increases testosterone levels, which, when low, are often responsible for hair loss.

Oils to improve growth and moisturize a maximum

Some vegetable and essential oils are known to grow beards, and as you would expect, it's great to use them on your beard! While they won't be miracle products, the oils will :

  • Nourish your hair
  • Moisturize your skin
  • Improve the growth of your beard
  • Protect it from external aggressions
  • Smell good (this is a bonus :D)

So, to use them, it's quite simple: massage your beard daily, insisting on the hairless areas, with a few drops of beard oil. This new ritual will reactivate the skin microcirculation and thus improve the irrigation of the hair root.

For example, castor oil is excellent for fuzz and patchy beard.

I recommend: castor oil, black seed, mustard, snake...

The beard dermaroller

This little accessory that works miracles called Dermaroller for beard will create tiny holes in your skin in order to start the healing process of your body. This way, the area will be better irrigated and will benefit from the nutrients that arrive in abundance to "heal" your skin.

If you don't know yet, I advise you to try it quickly!

Minoxidil and its derivatives

Medication known to fight beard baldness, the Minoxidil for beards is more or less effective depending on your case. A little expensive and full of side effects, it can help to hide the holes that come in the way of your pretty beard.

Exfoliate the beard

"Exfoliation" is another natural way to fix holes in the beard.
You can apply a facial scrub on the desert area to remove dead cells that could clog the follicle and thus "free" the hair.

Hide the sudden appearance of beard holes

There are other more clever ways to hide a hole in the beard.
If you have a certain length, brush your beard, you will see that the areas that are full can then hide those that are less so.

Of course, the second classic technique is to adopt a beard trim  that best suits the areas where you lack hair.
In short, let your beard grow and trim it to fill in the area or even it out to make it disappear.
